Robert F. Adams has served for many years as solicitor for townships, municipal authorities and zoning hearing boards across Chester County. He has also represented commercial and residential real estate developers in complex land development projects, and he has lectured on a wide range of municipal topics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
A skilled mediator, Bob and his practice have increasingly focused on Alternative Dispute Resolution, guiding a broad array of civil disputes to successful resolution since 2003. He has completed the Mediator Skills Training program of the American Arbitration Association and the “Mediating the Litigated Case” course at the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law.
Bob is past president of the Chester County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where he served in the House of Delegates for several terms, and is former chair of the Municipal Law Section. He was awarded an undergraduate degree by the University of Pennsylvania and received his law degree from Villanova University. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1972.
Bob has been very active in the local community throughout his law career. He was President of the Board of Legal Aid of Chester County from 1978 until 2000, and subsequently served on the Board of Directors of Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania until 2014. He is past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Chester County Board of Health, and served as President and Director of the Westtown-Goshen Rotary Club. Bob served as Chair of the Board of Directors for The Hickman Friends Senior Community of West Chester from 2005 until 2013, and was a Board Member of the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry from 2005 until 2011.
Prior to joining Gawthrop Greenwood, Bob was an associate at the Law Offices of David A. Nichols in Maine from 1972 to 1974. He was an Active Duty Officer of the United States Navy from 1966 until 1969.
