Pennsylvania “Super Lawyers” and “Rising Stars” Lists Recognize Gawthrop Greenwood Attorneys

Four partners from Gawthrop Greenwood, PC have been recognized as tops in their fields in Pennsylvania.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, selects outstanding attorneys from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. “Rising Stars” lists from the publishers of Super Lawyers magazine recognize top up-and-coming attorneys who are 40 years old or younger or have been practicing for 10 years or less. John E. D. Larkin and Stephen J. Olsen have been chosen for the 2017 Pennsylvania “Rising Stars” list. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in each state are selected each year to receive this honor.

A member of Gawthrop Greenwood’s litigation and criminal law departments, John E. D. Larkin has been named to the Pennsylvania “Rising Stars” list in the Business Litigation category. This is the fourth consecutive year he has been named to the list. Civilly, he focuses his practice on financial and insurance matters. His published works have appeared in law journals at the Georgetown University School of Law, Vanderbilt Law School, the University of Florida Law School, and the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, as well as in the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Bar Quarterly and At Issue publications.

2017 marks the sixth time that Stephen J. Olsen has been named to the Pennsylvania “Rising Stars” list in the Estate & Probate category. A member of Gawthrop Greenwood’s Estates and Trusts Department, he practices in the areas of taxation, trust and estate planning and administration, business transactional matters, and business succession planning. Author of numerous articles and a creator of and frequent poster on the popular blog Procedurally Taxing, he has gained recognition as an authority on tax law, offering commentary for local media.

Robert F. Adams and George C. Zumbano have been chosen for the 2017 Pennsylvania “Super Lawyers” list. Each year, no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in each state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

This is the ninth time that Robert F. Adams, whose designation is in the practice area of Land Use/Zoning, has been named to the “Super Lawyers” list. He has served for many years as solicitor for townships, municipal authorities and zoning hearing boards across Chester County. He has also represented commercial and residential real estate developers in complex land development projects, and has lectured on a wide range of municipal topics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. A skilled mediator practicing in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution, Adams has guided a broad array of civil disputes to successful resolution since 2003.

George C. Zumbano has been selected to the “Super Lawyers” list in the Business Litigation category for seven consecutive years. He represents businesses, individuals, and institutions in business and litigation matters, and practices in the fields of commercial dispute litigation, employment law, personal injury litigation, professional liability, education law, and alternative dispute resolution. Zumbano has obtained multimillion dollar verdicts and settlements in commercial litigation, malpractice, and personal injury cases in state and federal courts, and is often selected by judges or other lawyers as a mediator or arbitrator in matters involving construction disputes, personal injury suits, insurance claims, employment disputes and real estate matters.
