Pitching in During the Pandemic at YMCA of Greater Brandywine

This week Gawthrop Greenwood donated, sorted and packed food items for neighbors who are struggling to put food on their tables during the pandemic.

Attorney Sandra L. Knapp, who is on the board of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, visited the West Chester location in protective gear to donate collected food items as well as help sort and pack bags. The firm will provide additional help next week and invites further donations from friends, colleagues and neighbors.

“If you’d like to help, you can donate food by dropping it off on the Walnut Street side of the Oscar Lasko YMCA in West Chester. We could really use cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables and canned tuna,” says Knapp.

Four YMCA of Greater Brandywine branches are serving as food collection and distribution sites. Shelf-stable pantry items can be dropped off on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9 am – 4 pm at:

  • Brandywine YMCA, 295 Hurley Road, Coatesville
  • Jennersville YMCA, 880 West Baltimore Pike, West Grove
  • Kennett Area YMCA, 101 Race Street, Kennett Square
  • Oscar Lasko YMCA, 1 E Chestnut Street, West Chester

To maintain social distancing, pull up your vehicle and volunteers will collect items from your car. Items most needed are pasta, rice, peanut butter and cereal, as well as canned fruits, vegetables, tuna and chicken.
