Patrick McKenna Expands Community Service

Expanding his longstanding commitment to the Chester County community, Patrick McKenna, a partner with Gawthrop Greenwood, PC, has been elected Treasurer of the Chester County Bar Association for 2016. A member since 2002, he formerly served as Secretary, and is past Chair of the Young Lawyers Division and the Judicial Evaluation Committee.

In addition, he was recently elected Secretary for the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, after serving for three years as a Board member at large.

He also has been appointed Solicitor for the Chester County Prothonotary’s Office, and has been appointed, along with Gawthrop Greenwood partner Stacey Fuller, to represent the West Brandywine Township Municipal Authority.

Concentrating his practice in the areas of municipal law, land use, land development, zoning, real estate, and residential/commercial tax assessment appeals, McKenna represents numerous municipalities, zoning hearing boards, municipal authorities, and planning commissions in Chester and Delaware Counties, as well as private land owners and developers in subdivision, land development and zoning matters.

His community outreach efforts got a jumpstart in 2006 when Gawthrop Greenwood sponsored his enrollment in Leadership Chester County, a collaborative effort of the United Way of Chester County, Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry, and West Chester University that was developed in 2000 to train business and professional people in nonprofit board leadership. That led to McKenna serving for seven years, including two as president, on the board of directors of Safe Harbor of Chester County.

His other community involvement includes serving on the Advisory Board for Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, and as a member of the Communications Committee for CCATO, the Chester Co. Assoc. of Township Officials. He also commits time to several fundraising efforts, including serving as coordinator for the Legal Aid Annual 5K Trial Run since its 2005 inception, and participating with his family each year as “Team Jackie West Chester” for the March of Dimes March for Babies, raising nearly $3000 in the past two years for the March of Dimes.
