Robert Jefferson on Best Practices for New Lawyers

Robert C. Jefferson, IV
Robert C. Jefferson – Municipal Law, Land Use and Zoning Law

Municipal law attorney Robert C. Jefferson, IV presented a continuing legal education (CLE) course to attorneys from across Chester County on April 25, 2025 on behalf of the Chester County Bar Association. Part of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania’s “Bridge the Gap” series that’s designed to assist recent law school graduates as they transition from students to practitioners, Jefferson shared insight on the following key topics:

  • Diversity & Inclusion: Understanding the importance of diversity and promoting an environment of inclusion within your practice
  • Substance Abuse Prevention: Services for the 1 in 3 active practicing attorneys who face substance abuse issues
  • Disciplinary Board: Recognizing its purpose and functions
  • Outreach Programs & Resources: Increasing your awareness of resources available to lawyers

Jefferson focuses his practice on municipal government law, as well as land use, land development and zoning. A former Assistant District Attorney, Jefferson spent six years at the Chester County D.A.’s Office prosecuting 19 jury trials and more than 20 bench trials for criminal cases ranging from felonies to misdemeanors. His career in public service, along with experience navigating the adversarial court system, has proven beneficial to both public and private sector clients as they face testimony and cross examination before zoning hearing boards, planning commissions and other municipal authorities.

A member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Chester County Bar Association, Jefferson is active in CCBA’s Young Lawyers Division. He has been a member of the Chester County Fund for Women and Girls Grants Allocations Committee. He was named a VISTA.Today Millennial Superstar in 2022, Best Lawyers®: Ones to Watch and Super Lawyers, Pennsylvania Rising Star.
