Janet J. Satterthwaite

Practicing in Pennsylvania and also admitted in New Jersey, attorney Janet J. Satterthwaite is devoted to clients who seek assistance in estate planning and probate administration, as well as numerous family law, small business issues and residential real estate matters.

Janet joined Gawthrop Greenwood in 2022 following a merger with Hudson L. Voltz, PC, where she has supported clients across Chester County and Delaware County since 2007. She brings a highly personalized approach to her law practice, drawing on her experiences as a long-time trustee and family estate planner to connect with clients on their most pressing needs.

Janet’s extensive work with elder law encompasses all aspects of planning for aging, illness and incapacity. Her estate planning and estate administration practice includes assistance with probating an estate (both testate and intestate), capacity or guardianship issues, fiduciary/trustee or beneficiary representation, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives and intestate administration.

In her decades of work assisting families through the major changes and challenges of their lives, Janet’s work has also extended to family law, including divorce, custody, child and spousal support, prenuptial and separation agreements. Janet also supports the needs of businesses as they emerge and grow, including incorporation filings, contracts, employment agreements and non-compete.

Janet donates her time and legal insight to the Chester County Bar Association’s Access to Justice Program, which provides free legal services to Chester County residents in need. An accomplished harpist, Janet has volunteered performances for numerous hospice and special needs organizations including Coatesville Veterans Hospital and Hospice Center, Devereux Center in Berwyn and Community Volunteers in Medicine in West Chester. Married for almost 40 years, Janet enjoys spending time with her family of four children and three grandchildren.
