We have an immediate opening for a mid-level attorney with 3-5 years of experience serving clients with zoning and land use needs, as well as advising municipal entities in PA.

Responsibilities & Tasks You Should Expect to Perform

As a Municipal & Land Use Attorney at Gawthrop, you should expect to perform the following responsibilities and tasks independently:

• Provide representation for private and public clients, including elected officials, in a variety of municipal and land use matters;
• Attend and maintain a steady schedule of public and client meetings and conferences (i.e. Board of Supervisors/Council, Municipal Authority, and Planning Commission Meetings; Zoning Hearing Board Hearings, etc.);
• Represent clients during hearings, trials, appeals and quasi-judicial matters;
• Draft necessary legal documents (i.e. agreements, applications, ordinances, zoning decisions, legal opinions); and
• Update clients regularly on their case status.

Minimum Criteria for Eligibility

• J.D.  and bar admission in Pennsylvania
• 3-5 years of legal practice focused on Municipal, Zoning and Land Use
• Excellent initiative
• Experience in marketing legal practice and originating new clients
• Ability to work both independently and on a team
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products

PT/FT:  Full-time
